OPHTHAMOLOGY
Cataract
Cataract is a common eye condition in which the natural lens of the eye becomes cloudy, leading to blurred or dim vision. It typically develops gradually and is most often related to aging, but can also result from eye injuries, certain medical conditions, or prolonged exposure to sunlight. Symptoms may include difficulty seeing at night, sensitivity to light, faded colors, or the appearance of halos around lights. If left untreated, cataracts can significantly impair vision and quality of life. The most effective treatment is cataract surgery, a safe and highly successful procedure where the cloudy lens is replaced with a clear artificial one, restoring sharp and bright vision.

Cataract Surgeries
Implantation of Three-Piece Monofocal Lens AcrySof® MA60AC (Alcon)
This surgery involves removing the cloudy natural lens caused by cataract and replacing it with a three-piece AcrySof® MA60AC monofocal lens from Alcon. This type of lens provides clear vision at a single focal point, usually for distance vision, while glasses may be needed for reading or close work. The three-piece design offers flexibility for implantation and long-term stability in the eye.

Implantation of Aspheric Monofocal Lens AcrySof® IQ SN60WF (Alcon)
The AcrySof® IQ SN60WF aspheric monofocal lens is designed to improve image quality by reducing optical imperfections compared to standard spherical lenses. It delivers sharp distance vision, particularly in low-light conditions, while maintaining excellent contrast sensitivity. This lens is ideal for patients seeking high-definition distance vision after cataract surgery.

Implantation of Monofocal Lens CLAREON® (Alcon)
The CLAREON® monofocal lens offers clear, crisp vision with advanced material that resists clouding and deposits over time. It provides a single focal point, usually set for distance vision, ensuring reliable optical performance and long-term clarity. Its smooth design also supports gentle and precise implantation.

Implantation of Toric Monofocal Lens CLAREON® TORIC (Alcon)
The CLAREON® TORIC monofocal lens is designed for patients with cataracts and corneal astigmatism. It not only replaces the cloudy natural lens but also corrects astigmatism, delivering sharper and more stable distance vision without the need for additional corrective eyewear for far distances.

Implantation of EDOF Lens VIVITY® (Alcon)
The VIVITY® Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) lens provides a continuous range of vision from distance to intermediate, reducing the need for glasses for most daily activities. It uses a unique optical design to maintain high-quality vision without the visual disturbances sometimes associated with multifocal lenses.

Implantation of Toric EDOF Lens VIVITY® TORIC (Alcon)
The VIVITY® TORIC EDOF lens combines extended depth of focus technology with astigmatism correction. This allows patients to enjoy clear vision from far to intermediate distances while also addressing corneal astigmatism, offering greater visual freedom after cataract surgery.

Implantation of Multifocal Lens CLAREON® PANOPTIX® (Alcon)
The CLAREON® PANOPTIX® multifocal lens is designed to provide high-quality vision at near, intermediate, and far distances. It reduces dependence on glasses for most tasks, from reading and computer work to driving, offering a full range of visual clarity after cataract surgery.

Implantation of Toric Multifocal Lens CLAREON® PANOPTIX® TORIC (Alcon)
The CLAREON® PANOPTIX® TORIC lens delivers multifocal benefits across all distances while correcting astigmatism. This combination helps patients achieve clear vision for reading, computer use, and driving, with reduced need for spectacles, even in cases of pre-existing corneal astigmatism.

Other Procedures
Glaucoma Without Penetration – Deep Sclerotomy
This minimally invasive glaucoma surgery lowers eye pressure by creating a small drainage space in the sclera (the white part of the eye) without fully penetrating into the anterior chamber. It helps improve fluid outflow and protect the optic nerve, reducing the risk of vision loss, with a lower risk of complications compared to traditional penetrating surgery.

Cataract Extraction with Lens Implantation – Complicated Case
In complex cataract cases, surgery may require advanced techniques to safely remove the cloudy natural lens and replace it with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). These cases can involve weak lens support, previous eye injuries, or other eye conditions, and are handled with special care to restore clear vision while minimizing risks.

Secondary IOL Implantation
Secondary intraocular lens implantation is performed when a patient requires a new lens after the original cataract surgery, either due to lens displacement, damage, or if no lens was implanted during the initial procedure. The new lens restores clarity and helps improve visual function.

Phacoemulsification and Trabeculectomy
This combined surgery treats both cataracts and glaucoma in a single procedure. The cataract is removed using ultrasound (phacoemulsification) and replaced with an artificial lens, while a trabeculectomy is performed to create a new drainage channel to lower intraocular pressure.

Trabeculectomy
Trabeculectomy is a surgical procedure for glaucoma that creates a small drainage opening in the sclera, allowing excess eye fluid to leave the eye and lower intraocular pressure, helping to protect vision from further damage.

Trabeculectomy with Implant
This procedure is similar to standard trabeculectomy but uses a small medical implant to maintain the drainage opening and improve long-term fluid outflow, offering better control of intraocular pressure in certain glaucoma cases.

Cyclocryo Application
Cyclocryotherapy uses controlled freezing to treat part of the ciliary body, reducing the production of intraocular fluid. This helps lower eye pressure in advanced or uncontrolled glaucoma when other treatments are not effective.
Intravitreal Injection
An intravitreal injection delivers medication directly into the vitreous gel inside the eye. It is commonly used to treat conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusion, allowing for targeted, effective treatment.

Category 1 Vitrectomy
A Category 1 vitrectomy is a surgical removal of the vitreous gel in straightforward cases, often performed to treat conditions such as small retinal detachments, minor vitreous hemorrhage, or removal of floaters.
Category 2 Vitrectomy
A Category 2 vitrectomy addresses more complex retinal and vitreous conditions, requiring additional surgical steps such as membrane peeling or laser treatment to restore or preserve vision.

Category 3 Vitrectomy
A Category 3 vitrectomy is for the most complex and severe retinal conditions, often involving advanced retinal detachments, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, or complicated trauma cases, requiring extensive surgical intervention.

Replacing Silicone Oil
In some retinal surgeries, silicone oil is used inside the eye to hold the retina in place during healing. This procedure replaces the existing silicone oil with fresh oil to maintain retinal stability and prevent complications.

Silicone Oil Evacuation
Once the retina has healed sufficiently, the silicone oil used during retinal surgery can be removed. This improves vision quality and comfort while maintaining the stability of the treated retina.

Episcleral Retinal Detachment Surgery
Also known as scleral buckling, this procedure treats retinal detachment by placing a small band of silicone on the outside of the eye (the sclera) to gently push the wall of the eye toward the detached retina, allowing it to reattach and heal.
